Winter fun (and not so fun winter)

It seems like this winter started off slowly, but it sure has come back to hit us on the tail end.  Once again, Ellie D the snow bunny is out in full force.  Every year it just plain floors me how much this child loves the snow.

We had a special trip up to NH one weekend for Ellie to go to Disney on Ice with Gap, Marcea and her cousins.  She and I drove up to Nashua where we both got to have a fun sleepover with Sheesha, Uncle Brad, Charlotte and Addie. Saturday turned into a very snowstorm of a day, and Lisa and I were unable to go to the Cape to attend Dick's funeral services unfortunately.  It did leave us stranded at home on a snowy Saturday without the oldest girls and only Addie.  It was nice in many ways since neither one of us get to spend a lot of time together, especially unscheduled time!  Eventually we drove up to Jaffrey after the roads cleared up and went to Sara's house for some sledding.  Dad dropped the girls off and we went outside.  Somehow it ended up that only Sara, Lisa and I were left outside and we were sledding by ourselves!  We had a great time.

Sunday I insisted that  we go skiing.  Dad was hemming and hawing and I gave it to him good.  He used to get our butts up at 5:30 am to be on the slopes the second they opened!  We didn't even make it to Crotched until about 9:45 and we weren't on the slopes until almost 11, but it was fine.  The girls did great and we went on the chairlift 5 times.  Ellie has taken to it pretty well and I couldn't be happier.  And Dad's legacy of skiing lives on.

And some not so fun winter--snow days, blizzards that never were (at least in our neck of the woods), rotavirus and upper respiratory infections that ripped through our house and rendered me, yes, even superwoman, enough energy to keep a small country running me, flat out exhausted and begging for more lying down time.  Sadly, when everyone is sick, Mommy gets no love but instead a chance to change raging, nasty diarrhea.
