Christmas 2012

The blog has taken a bit of a backseat in the last few weeks.  December proved to be a bit of a rough patch for the Drzewieckis, but I am happy to report that we are feeling that the worst is over.  There were a lot of temper tantrums and tears, cold and flu season at our house complete with back to back trips to the pediatrician, a professional "growth spurt" as I will try to remember it as, a couple of weekend trips and an overall paucity of sleep.  But things are looking up, so long as I hold true to my claim of 'ferberizing' Zack.

Christmas was quiet, but extremely spread out for us this year.  We went to NH on the 15th to say hello to the NH folk, especially G.G. and Aunt Jennie, to start of the holiday festivities.  This was our first year to start with Santa Claus, which ended up with me essentially coaxing Ellie into understanding about Santa and that her stocking was filled by him.  She also was the slowest gift unwrapper in the history of time.  I choose to relish in this fact because I am sure that next year she will be ripping through them at rapid speed.  It was nice that once she opened a present she wanted to play with, she essentially could have cared less that there were 10 more under the tree for her.  I am still confused where all of her presents came from...

But we had decided earlier on that we were going to head into "the New York City" and check out the tree at Rockefeller Center (you know, because no one else would think of doing that) and then be good NY Jews and go out for Chinese food.  Mike took this last part very seriously, and it turned out that we were the only Americans in the Chinese restaurant for almost the whole time (eventually a foursome of Jewish people did show up, and this is in no way meant to be derogatory.  Jewish people in NY do go out for Chinese food on Christmas).  Dad came down to join us on this adventure, which was quite fun, albeit a very different holiday tradition.

I am determined to teach Ellie to ski this year.  GAP bought her a helmet.  I am giving it a 50/50 shot of her taking to the skiing.

We were also graced by a visit by the Serton family.  In order for the adults to have some time to chat "Finding Nemo" found its way on TV.  They weren't interested in it at all....
