So we are totally backblogging right now. Times have been very busy which is as always both good and bad. It would help if work wasn't killing me on a weekly basis, but such is the life.
Our friend Rob Dross came to visit us the weekend of April 20-22. We used him as an excuse to continue the indulgence and also to knock some things off of our Nashville bucket list. Friday night we went to the Bluebird Cafe, which is a local place that has been around forever and is where a lot of singer/songwriters get there start (such as Taylor Swift). It was kind of neat, 3 guys and a harmonica player sitting around singing songs, some we knew, some just to be funny, telling stories of the good ole' days. Definitely glad we went.
The next morning we had decided to get up early and go to the Loveless Cafe for breakfast. It is something we have put off because of the dreaded wait that most people talk about, so in an attempt to take advantage of Ellie's early arousal, we decided we would leave around 7 am. I am positive Rob was not thrilled with the idea but he played along nicely. It was a yucky, rainy morning and we were all pretty tired from being out late the night before. It was even more awesome when we got there at 7:30 and the place wasn't even a quarter full. Sweet. We gorged ourselves on biscuits, pancakes, bbq over eggs and country ham, and rolled ourselves out of there. At least there were people waiting when we left. We hit up the Farmer's Market and the Earth Day festival later that day before we headed out for dinner.
Sunday Mike and Rob went down and toured the Ryman theater while Ellie and I stayed home to make an early dinner with our filets from the meat CSA that we belong to. Unfortunately Rob miscalculated his return flight and he decided to spend an extra night here with us (we think he was just really sad to go). So we hit up Jeni's ice cream to round off the extreme eating weekend, as Rob is familiar with Toscanini's in Cambridge, our favorite ice cream place. Toscanini's is still the prime winner.
Still a few things left on the bucket list, but we are running out of time...
